U.S. Drones: Will I be next?

On a sunny fall afternoon in October 2012, 68-year-old Mamana Bibi was killed in a drone strike that appears to have been aimed directly at her. Her grandchildren recounted in painful detail to Amnesty International the moment when Mamana Bibi, who was gathering vegetables in the family fields in Ghundi Kala, North Waziristan was blasted into pieces before their very eyes. Nearly a year later, Mamana Bibi’s family has yet to receive even any acknowledgment from US authorities that she was killed, let alone justice or compensation for her death.

Amnesty International’s investigations into drone strikes in north western Pakistan have shown that some of these drone strikes could amount to war crimes.

It is time for the USA to come clean about drone killings in Pakistan: time to investigate those responsible and give Mamana Bibi’s family and others like them justice.

  1. The US governments use of drones is morally reprehensible and politically self destructive, creating unanimous resentment even in a country which is officially an ally.

It's not even "shooting first and asking questions later", it is shooting first, then shooting first responders, then asking no questions, giving no apologies.

  2. So the US killed this grandmother with no justification and no explanation, and now terrorizes the countryside with their ubiquitous drones flying overhead. Remind me again who the terrorists are?

  3. One of my friend's family has been killed by drone attacks here in Pakistan, except him all of his family members has been died (because he was here in Punjab) later my friend joined Talban as he believe that this is the only way to get justice for his family because no court is ready to take a case against USA here in Pakistan..

I am not supporting Talban, i am just telling you how does an happy family dies and one who was innocent become Talban.

  4. remember, folks – for the 1 family that is brave enough to come forward and speak, there are 100s of families in pakistan, yemen, and elsewhere that have had their loved ones killed randomly, for no reason, by a US bomb. they might not have known america before, but they no us now. anyone – *anyone who tells you that the drone program is making us safer, is full of ****. this program has 3 results: destruction, creating more enemies, and letting heartless corporate pigs get richer. it must end.

  5. No one in USA is willing to prosecute the government or the military war machine for their crimes. They even put their own soldiers and workers in prison for daring to speak out against the status quo.

This country is corrupt from inside and out, run by war criminals and bloodthirsty warmongers. I'd venture to say that Pakistani government is more noble than USG.

Taliban wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the USA and Bhenazir Bhutto in the 1980s.

  6. Drones aren't the problem; manned air strikes would be doing the same thing. Airstikes are an act of war and the killing of civilians is a war crime. They should be treated as such.

  7. How would you deal with insurgents? If there is nothing wrong with sharia law and al Qaida in your neighborhood then we should not be there.. I guess what you deal with from violence and fundamental Islam is the right way to go. Jihadists are O.K. ??

  8. All violence is wrong. Flying planes into buildings is wrong. I feel very bad for this family no doubt. What solution can there be ? Israel is guilty as hell since 1947 / 48. RELIGION IS NOT GOOD !!!

  9. In Quran, Chapter 2, Verse No 9 to 12:

    9. They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not!

    10. In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.

    11. And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peacemakers."

    12. Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not.

  10. it is time to call for drone NON-proliferation….this is technology is not like nuclear technology and it is easily distributed, border patrol may stop suicide bombers from coming into America, but how can TSA possibly stop these drones from coming into America, it will be every passenger plane for him/herself.
